LED Receiving Card
Definition
A receiving card is the circuit board inside each LED cabinet that receives data from the processor, usually over Ethernet cables, and drives the LED modules. Each model handles a maximum number of pixels and supports given refresh rates and scan ratios, and it is set up with a configuration file that describes the modules (pixel layout, scan type, driver chips). Processors and cards belong to the same manufacturer's system, for example NovaStar, Brompton, Colorlight or Megapixel, and the card firmware has to be compatible with the processor software. A faulty or wrongly configured card shows up as a dark cabinet, wrong colours, or a section running at a different refresh rate.
In the field
When a single cabinet is dark or off colour while its neighbours are correct, the receiving card or its incoming data cable is the usual first suspect. Spare cards are carried in the exact model in use, loaded with the same configuration, because cards differ from one panel generation or manufacturer to another.
